We have researched
and ventured off down the real estate path and have read several
books that are fairly popular. We give a very brief review of each
book and why we recommend it or not.
Recommended: Rich Dad,
Poor Dad - Robert Kiyosaki
This book is an easy read and a good motivator for someone
getting started. Kiyosaki has some great ideas and introduces
a lot of the concepts that can be sought after in real estate.
I do not accept his book as a bible of real estate because
there are some things that I don't think the common person
could or would do. Besides, I have seen some interesting
reviews on him and his sources. I would say that he certainly
pitches his other business ventures in the book but there are
some great principles to be learned.
Moderately Recommended:
Real Estate Riches - Dolf de Roos
De Roos uses Kiyosaki's success as a springboard. He
introduces some other ideas and principles but he is
definitely pitching his book and other business ideas. He has
done well in real estate but I have not heard nearly as much
about him as I have of Kiyosaki.
Recommended: The
"for Dummies" books
These books have many good resource for how loans work, how
many deals are done, how to manage properties, how negotiation
can be accomplished, etc.
