Love of Wildlife

Whether it be flora or fauna, wildlife is by far the most exciting aspect of the outdoors. Very few experiences are like that of hiking along, coming over a knoll and walking into a herd of elk. Or watching two coyotes blaze across a hillside chasing one another. Its very exciting to track animals down without them knowing you are there and watch them in their habitat.

There are two statements we want to make regarding wildlife: Enjoy it frequently and preserve it adamantly.

Any time you go into the wild be sure to take you camera and your best gear. Consider a journal. Get out frequently for therapeutic reasons. Enjoying animals and plant life is more refreshing than most people think.

Try tracking a herd of elk. Get as close to them as you can without them knowing you are there. They are beautiful. The calves play with each other and the bulls beat on each other. They grunt and call as if they are talking to each other.

Try bear watching. While maintaining a safe distance use binoculars or a spotting scope to watch them feed or play or roam about.

If you have ever hear a live mountain lion scream in the wild you will understand what true fear is.

Go bird watching. Follow a herd of deer. Search out your favorite bugs. Go on a plant scavenger hunt. Enjoy the outdoors and wildlife as often as you can.

While on your adventures, make sure to keep in constant mind the preservation of your surroundings. Stay on trails. Be careful not to spook animal herds. If you camp be sure to clean up and damage as little as possible. The environment around us is fragile and requires our care. Be sure to be conservation minded.
