As a former resident of Montana I would recommend a couple of
things (probably good ideas for trips anywhere):
- Plan well. A trip to MT can
become very uncomfortable or dangerous without proper
experience or preparation.
- If you plan to be outdoors and
have not spent much time outdoors work with someone who is a
guide or knows the areas, weather patterns, etc. of the
area.
- If possible, Drive. Flying
into MT can cut out half of the experience of seeing the
scenery.
- Respect the people, places,
and animals.
- Visit Glacier National Park.
- Visit Yellowstone National
Park.
- Visit Lewis
and Clark Caverns and learn
about their journey.
- Fish (know the laws
and regulations, get your licenses).
- Take a camera, journal, and no
TV.
- Eat a steak, buffalo burger,
trout.
- Enjoy the speed limits, open
roads, and no sales tax.
- If you are on a dirt road and
someone waves, wave back. The people are friendly.
